Research by the Indonesian Political Indicator (Indikator Politik Indonesia) shows that 73.1% of respondents reported being satisfied with the performance of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) (Jokowi). This breaks down into 13.4% reporting being very satisfied and 59.7% reporting being fairly satisfied.
This satisfaction is based on Jokowi's performance to date. The top reason cited was Jokowi's provision of assistance to the underprivileged (assistance to the underprivileged), selected by 39.06% of respondents.
Second was infrastructure development, chosen by 27.6% of respondents. Third was a general assessment of good performance (5.7%).
Fourth, Jokowi was considered approachable by 5.4% of respondents. Fifth, the former Governor of DKI Jakarta was also credited with controlling the prices of basic necessities, chosen by 3% of respondents. The remaining reasons are included in the graph above and the points below.
Respondents included all Indonesian citizens with voting rights in general elections – those aged 17 or older, or those who were married at the time of the survey. The sample was drawn using multistage random sampling.
The survey was conducted twice. The first survey period was February 9-16, 2023, with a sample size of 1,220 people. The sample was drawn from all provinces in a proportionally distributed manner. The margin of error (MoE) was ±2.9% at a 95% confidence level.
The second survey period was March 12-18, 2023, with a sample size of 800 people. The sample was drawn from almost all provinces in a proportionally distributed manner.
Assuming the same methodology, a sample size of 800 respondents has a MoE of ±3.5% at a 95% confidence level. Selected respondents were interviewed face-to-face by trained interviewers.
