Food Consumption Inadequacy Rate of West Sumbawa Residents Rises 2.22% in 2025

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in West Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara reached 2.22% in 2025.

This figure increased by 1.35% from the previous year's 0.87%, while in the last 5 years, it rose by 1.31%.

Indonesia's average PoU was 7.89% in 2025. This means that the PoU in West Sumbawa Regency is lower than the national average.

The National Food Agency (Bapanas) defines PoU as a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy required for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that less than 2.22% of the total population in West Sumbawa Regency consumes food but has insufficient energy requirements.
