Based on data from the *Nielsen Advertising Expenditure* (Adex) *Full Year 2017 and Trends*, print and television media advertising reached Rp 145.5 trillion. This figure represents an 8% increase from the previous year, which reached only Rp 134.8 trillion.
The brand with the highest advertising expenditure last year was Meikarta, with a value of Rp 1.54 trillion. This is equivalent to 37% of the total advertising expenditure in the property sector (Rp 4.1 trillion) or approximately 1% of total conventional media advertising. Meanwhile, the brand with the second-highest advertising expenditure was Traveloka.com, with a value of Rp 1.14 trillion.
Nielsen Adex 2017 data was sourced from Ad Intel, which monitors advertising activity in Indonesia from 15 television stations, 99 newspapers, and 120 magazines and tabloids. The advertising expenditure figures are based on gross rate cards, without taking into account discounts, bonuses, promotions, package prices, and other factors.
