Survey Indicator: Satisfaction with Jokowi's Performance Declined Since 2019

The Indonesian Political Indicator (IPI) survey shows a declining trend in satisfaction with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)'s performance since September 2019. At that time, satisfaction with Jokowi's performance was at its highest level, at 72%.

The trend of satisfaction with Jokowi continued to decline, reaching 70% in February 2020, 66% in May 2020, and 65% in July 2020. Entering 2021, this trend continued to fall, reaching 63% in February and 59% in July, and settling at 58% this September.

Based on socio-demographics, men tended to be less satisfied with Jokowi's performance, with 39.2% of male respondents expressing dissatisfaction, compared to 33.5% of female respondents. The survey also showed that the lower the respondent's education level, the higher the level of satisfaction with Jokowi's performance.

For example, at the elementary school level, 60% of respondents expressed satisfaction with Jokowi's performance; at the junior high school level, 53% expressed satisfaction; and at the senior high school level, 61% expressed satisfaction. Meanwhile, satisfaction with the president's performance was relatively low among university-educated respondents, with only 50% expressing satisfaction.

This survey was conducted using online and telephone interviews with 1,200 randomly selected respondents. Respondents were participants who had previously participated in IPI surveys between March 2018 and June 2021. Furthermore, the sample was randomly selected from all provinces proportionally. The survey's margin of error is 2.9% with a 95% confidence level.
