Indonesia's Most Urgent Problems According to the Citizens

According to a survey by the Seventeen Pioneer Foundation (PP17), Indonesia faces various problems that require immediate government attention.

In the second quarter of 2025, public concerns were largely focused on economic issues.

Unemployment topped the list, considered the most pressing issue by 49% of respondents. Corruption and the high cost of basic goods followed as major concerns.

The percentage of respondents highlighting corruption increased from 37% in the first quarter of 2025 to 48% in the second quarter.

"This increased public attention requires immediate government action," PP17 wrote in National Kawula Survey Q2 2025 report.

The following is a complete list of Indonesia's most pressing problems according to the PP17 survey:

* Sexual violence: 21%

* Violence by law enforcement: 18%

* High cost of education: 15%

* Poor implementation of the free nutritious meal program (MBG): 15%

* Military involvement in government: 10%

* Child marriage: 9%

* Pedestrian infrastructure: 7%

* Public transportation: 7%

* Land grabbing from indigenous communities: 6%

* Don't know: 4%

The survey involved 417 respondents aged 17-44 from various regions across Indonesia. 51% of respondents were female and 49% were male.

Data collection was conducted from May 12-15, 2025, using computer-assisted web interviewing (CAWI) with a margin of error of approximately 5%.
