In Indonesia, this survey was conducted in January-February 2025, through face-to-face interviews with 1,022 respondents aged 18 and above.

The results showed that 30% of respondents felt proud of Indonesia for its diversity and multiculturalism.

"Indonesia is one of just a few surveyed countries where this is a top source of pride," said the Pew Research Center in its report, What Makes People Proud of Their Country? (February 2026).

"People highlight the various tribes, local languages, races and religions that characterize Indonesia," they said.

Then, 21% of respondents were proud of Indonesia for the character of its people.

There were also those who were proud of Indonesia's economy (17%), art and culture (15%), natural resources (14%), geographical environment (11%), and peace and security in the country (10%).

While respondents who were proud of Indonesia for its political system, state/political leaders, social security system, food/cuisine, national identity, and others were fewer, less than 10%.

The survey also found that no respondents felt proud of Indonesia for having certain cities/regions, equality/human rights, or for its health services, as shown in the chart.
