There are many netizens who are concerned about the middle class in Indonesia.
This can be seen from the Databoks research report titled "Social Media Listening Report 2026: The Middle Class on the Brink of Vulnerability".
Databoks analyzed conversations related to the middle class issue that emerged on social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and X during the period of January 2025 to February 2026.
The results showed that out of approximately 46,600 collected conversations, the majority or 31.34% contained negative concern.
These concerns are generally related to the economic pressures of the middle class, such as the high cost of living, job and income uncertainty, difficulty in buying a house, economic inequality, and decreasing consumption capacity.
Then, 16.98% of the conversations contained neutral sentiments, and 12.46% positive support.
This positive support generally discusses economic growth, government social assistance programs, health services through BPJS, education support, digitalization of public services, and strengthening of SMEs and community business activities.
However, apart from that, other emotions that frequently emerged include sarcasm and sorrow, with the proportions as shown in the graph.
