A survey by the Indonesian Political Indicator research institution shows that Indonesians consider several issues extremely urgent and requiring resolution by national leaders within the next five years.
These leaders could be the current administration or those elected in the 2024 General Election.
The most pressing issue, cited by 36.9% of respondents, is controlling the price of basic necessities.
Second, at 17.7%, is job creation or unemployment reduction. Third, at 7.1%, is corruption eradication. These are the top three most urgent issues identified by the Indonesian Political Indicator.
"Controlling the price of basic necessities is the most prominent main issue according to citizens. Then, unemployment/job creation, poverty, and corruption eradication," wrote the Indonesian Political Indicator in its report.
Fourth, at 3.4%, is advancing the agricultural sector, and fifth, at 3.2%, is boosting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) growth. The remaining issues are listed in the graph above and the points below.
Respondents included all Indonesian citizens with voting rights in general elections—those aged 17 or older, or those who were married at the time of the survey. Sample selection used a multistage random sampling method.
The survey was conducted twice. The first survey period was February 9-16, 2023, with 1,220 respondents. Samples were drawn from all provinces proportionally. The margin of error (MoE) is ±2.9% at a 95% confidence level.
The second survey period was March 12-18, 2023, with 800 respondents. Samples were drawn from almost all provinces proportionally. Using the same method, a sample size of 800 respondents has an MoE of ±3.5% at a 95% confidence level. Selected respondents were interviewed face-to-face by trained interviewers.
