Three prospective presidential candidates (bacapres) in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) are vying for support from several political parties. The three are the PDI Perjuangan's bacapres Ganjar Pranowo, the Gerindra Party's bacapres Prabowo Subianto, and the Coalition for Unity's bacapres Anies Baswedan.
So, which presidential candidate has the most significant support from political parties?
Based on data compiled by *Katadata.co.id* as of August 13, 2023, Prabowo has the most support, namely from five political parties: Gerindra, PBB, Golkar, PAN, and PKB.
Most recently, the Golkar and PAN parties officially declared their support for Prabowo Subianto as the 2024 presidential candidate.
PKB Secretary General Aboe Bakar Al-Habsyi said that the support of Airlangga Hartarto and Zulkifli Hasan's factions for Prabowo clarifies that the 2024 Presidential Election will involve three presidential and vice-presidential candidate pairs.
"Golkar and PAN's support for Prabowo will make the Presidential Election map clearer," said Aboe, as quoted by *Katadata.co.id* on Sunday (13/8/2023).
According to Aboe, the presence of three presidential and vice-presidential pairs can minimize polarization among the public due to the contestation.
"This is quite ideal. We shouldn't let the experience of the previous election be repeated, when the contestation only involved two candidate pairs, resulting in polarization among the public," he said.
Previously, the 2019 Presidential Election was only contested by Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Prabowo Subianto. Jokowi won the Presidential Election and became the President of Indonesia until 2024.
Here are some parties supporting the prospective presidential candidates for 2024:
* Prabowo Subianto: Golkar, PAN, PKB, PBB, and Gerindra Party.
* Ganjar Pranowo: PDI-P, PPP, and non-parliamentary parties Hanura and Perindo.
* Anies Baswedan: PKS, NasDem Party, and the Democratic Party, united in the Coalition for Unity, have agreed to nominate the former Governor of DKI Jakarta.
However, none of the three presidential candidates have yet named their running mate (cawapres).
