Warning! Mount Ibu Erupts Again This Morning (Wednesday, December 10, 2025)

Mount Ibu in North Maluku erupted again on Wednesday (10/12/2025) at 10:42 AM WIT. In the last week, Mount Ibu has erupted 14 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the ash column was observed to reach None meters above the peak (None meters above sea level).

The eruption visual was not observed. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 28 millimeters and a duration of 35 seconds.

According to MAGMA Indonesia's volcanic activity report, Mount Ibu's activity level is at Level II (Alert). Seismicity observations on December 10, 2025, from 00:00-23:59 WIT showed 93 eruption tremors/earthquakes with amplitudes of 14-28 millimeters and earthquake durations of 53-86 seconds.

Furthermore, there was 1 rockfall earthquake with an amplitude of 2 mm and an earthquake duration of 36 seconds, and 1 exhalation earthquake with an amplitude of 6 millimeters and an earthquake duration of 44 seconds.

PVMBG advises the public around Mount Ibu and visitors/tourists not to engage in activities within a radius of 2 kilometers and a sectoral expansion of 3.5 kilometers towards the crater opening in the northern part of Mount Ibu's active crater.

Throughout 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 7,277 volcanic eruptions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (2,991 times), while Mount Ibu erupted 2,620 times.
