The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 484,690 cases by Saturday, January 22, 2022. The United Kingdom ranks first, with a weekly growth of Omicron cases at 44.96 percent. GISAID recorded 212,210 Omicron cases in the UK. Daily cases in this region increased by 4.96 percent compared to the previous day.

Following the UK is the United States, with a weekly growth in Omicron cases reaching 41.88 percent. Daily Omicron cases in the US increased by 8.01 percent compared to the previous day, totaling 144,950 cases.

Furthermore, the number of Omicron cases in Denmark increased by 34.26 percent to 31,818 cases compared to the previous week; in Canada, it rose by 212.02 percent to 13,189 cases compared to the previous week; and in Germany, it increased by 4.6 percent to 10,718 cases compared to the previous week.

Meanwhile, in Indonesia, the number of Omicron cases recorded to date is 1,255, a 7.26 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since its first detection, Omicron cases in Indonesia have continued to rise.
