IDX Composite Falls Ahead of Christmas Holiday (Wednesday, December 24, 2025)

The IDX Composite Index (IHSG) fell by 0.55% to the level of 8,537.91 at the close of trading on Wednesday (24/12/2025).

According to Pilarmas Investindo Sekuritas, this decline was influenced by investors' profit-taking ahead of the 2025 Christmas holiday.

"The market also appears to be burdened by profit-taking and selling by foreign investors," said Maximilianus Nico Demus, Associate Director of Research and Investment at Pilarmas Investindo Sekuritas, as reported by Antara.

Based on the IDX-IC Sectoral Index, eight stock sectors corrected today. The basic materials sector fell the deepest by 1.59%, followed by the energy sector and the transportation sector, which corrected by 1.14% and 1% respectively.

Meanwhile, three other sectors strengthened. The property sector led with a gain of 0.38%, followed by the primary consumer goods sector and the infrastructure sector, which rose by 0.20% and 0.16% respectively.

According to RTI Business data, the frequency of stock trading on the domestic exchange today was 2.53 million transactions.

A total of 34.18 billion shares changed hands, with a total transaction value of Rp22.29 trillion.

A total of 403 stocks closed weaker today, while 247 stocks strengthened, and 152 stocks remained stagnant.

The issuer with code PJHB became today's top loser after falling by 14.73%, followed by SKBM and MEDS, which decreased by 14.57% and 12.94% respectively.

Meanwhile, today's top gainer was MGNA, which soared by 34.59%, followed by BCIP and ATAP, which rose by 27.14% and 25% respectively.

Asian regional exchanges closed mixed this afternoon. The Nikkei Index fell by 0.14% to 50,344.10; the Hang Seng Index rose by 0.17% to 25,818.93; the Shanghai Index rose by 0.53% to 3,940.95; and the Strait Times Index fell by 0.06% to 4,636.34.
