A Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) survey shows that presidential and vice-presidential candidates Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka (pair number 2) have the highest electability rating at 43.7%, based on a survey conducted after the first 2024 Presidential Election debate on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.

The second-highest ranking went to candidate pair number 1, Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar, with 26.1% of the vote. This was followed by candidate pair number 3, Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD, with 19.4% of the vote.

Furthermore, 6.4% of respondents kept their choice secret or had not yet decided on their preferred presidential and vice-presidential candidates. Meanwhile, 4.5% of respondents did not know or did not answer.

In line with this, CSIS also recorded respondents' opinions on the firmness of their choices. 75.2% of respondents were firm in their choice of presidential and vice-presidential candidates, while 24.8% were still undecided.

Arya Fernandes, Head of the Department of Politics and Social Change at CSIS, stated that the possibility of either a one-round or two-round 2024 Presidential Election remains open because the number of swing voters remains relatively high.

"For all three candidates, there is still time, there is still hope to carry out political work," he said during an online presentation of the survey results on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

The CSIS survey involved 1,300 respondents aged 17 and above, proportionally distributed across Indonesia's 34 provinces. The sample was taken using a multistage random sampling method.

Data was collected from December 13-18, 2023, one day after the first 2024 Presidential Election debate, using face-to-face interviews. The margin of error is approximately 2.7% with a 95% confidence level.
