The Food and Drug Supervision Agency (BPOM) released a list of 10 illegal quasi-medicinal products widely sold on Indonesian marketplaces throughout 2025.
Quasi-medicinal products are pharmaceutical preparations containing active ingredients with pharmacological effects to address minor complaints. These products are generally used for external application or limited oral use.
In 2025, Lumbar Spine Cooling Gel became the most widely circulated illegal quasi-medicinal product on marketplaces, with a total sales volume of 540,887 products. This product originating from China was most frequently found in online stores in West Jakarta.
In addition to gel form, other illegal quasi-medicinal products frequently inspected by BPOM include inhalers, topical oils, and creams.

- Lumbar Spine Cooling Gel: 540,887 products sold
- Dictamni Huatuo Hemorrhoids Cream: 333,356 products sold
- Peppermint Field Black Inhaler: 120,487 products sold
- Minyak Angin Cap Ikan Emas: 54,815 products sold
- Poy Sian Pim Saen: 51,789 products sold
- Lumbar Cold Compress Gel: 48,347 products sold
- Shou Shen Tie: 47,941 products sold
- Roihi Tsuboko: 35,024 products sold
- Hong Thai Inhaler: 29,601 products sold
- Muay Medicated Analgesic Cream: 20,821 products sold.
Following up on these findings, BPOM has collaborated with various parties to remove product sales links.
"Thousands of sales links from these accounts have been taken down by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs and the Indonesian E-Commerce Association (idEA)," said BPOM on its official Instagram account on Friday (March 13, 2026).
