Kaesang Enters Central Java Gubernatorial Candidate Race; Here's What Residents See as His Strengths

Kompas Research and Development conducted a poll regarding the strengths of Kaesang Pangarep, the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), who has recently been frequently mentioned as a potential gubernatorial candidate for Central Java in 2024.

The results show that the majority, or 32%, of respondents in Central Java consider Kaesang's strengths to lie in his humorous, sociable, and relatable personality.

His identity as a native of Central Java is also seen as an advantage by 16.4% of respondents.

"Thus, emotional aspects appear to be the main basis of Kaesang's connection with his supporters," stated the Kompas Research and Development team in their report on Sunday, July 21, 2024.

Furthermore, 9% of respondents assessed Kaesang's strengths as his performance or experience, 2.8% because he comes from a presidential family, and 1.2% because of his young age.

A smaller percentage of respondents considered his status as a public figure, his vision and mission, and his business experience as his strengths. Only 0.2% of respondents felt that Kaesang had no strengths.

This Kompas Research and Development survey involved 500 respondents randomly selected using a stratified systematic sampling method across 35 cities/regencies in Central Java.

Data collection was conducted from June 20-25, 2024, through face-to-face interviews. The survey's margin of error is approximately 4.4%, with a 95% confidence level under simple random sampling conditions.
