SMRC Survey: PDI-P Leads in West Java Electability

If a General Election (Pemilu) were held now, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) would be the party with the highest electability in West Java.

This was stated by Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) in the release of their latest survey results, entitled *Parties, Governor, and President: Public Opinion of West Java*.

The survey results show that the PDIP obtained 16% electability from the people of West Java. The PDIP is in close competition with Gerindra, which is in second place with 14.8% electability.

The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) is in third place with 9.2% electability, followed by the Golkar and Democrat parties, which obtained 8.1% and 5.9% electability, respectively.

The National Awakening Party (PKB) is next with 5.1% electability. Other political parties obtained electability below 3%, and 32.7% of respondents were undecided or did not answer.

This survey also shows that the PDIP is the only party that experienced an increase in electability compared to its vote share in the 2019 General Election.

SMRC conducted the survey from February 5-8, 2022, through telephone interviews with a total sample of 801 respondents. The sample was randomly selected from the population of West Java residents aged 17 years and older or who are married and have a mobile phone.

The margin of error for this survey is estimated to be around 3.5% at a 95% confidence level, assuming simple random sampling.
