A recent survey by Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) reveals that the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) maintains a significant lead in electability ahead of the 2024 general election. Its electability has even increased compared to 2019.

Compared to the 2019 election results, support for the PDI-P rose from 19.3 percent to 24.1 percent. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party also saw a slight increase, from 7.8 percent to 8.9 percent, remaining relatively stable.

SMRC Research Director Deni Irvani stated that Golkar and Gerindra received 9.4% and 8.9% support, respectively.

Support for other parties, however, tended to decrease. Nevertheless, Deni noted that each party still has the opportunity to improve its electability. This is because the survey showed that approximately 20.9% of respondents were undecided.

The positions of other parties in this survey remained largely unchanged. The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) remained in fifth place with 6.2% support, followed by the National Awakening Party (PKB) with 6.1%. Interestingly, Perindo (4.6%) surpassed the NasDem Party (3.2%). This was followed by the United Development Party (PPP) with 2.9% and the National Mandate Party (PAN) with 1.7%.

"Other parties received less than 1% support," said Deni.

This SMRC survey was conducted from December 3 to 11, 2022, involving 1,220 Indonesian citizens aged 17 or older, or who were married. Data was collected through face-to-face interviews. The survey's margin of error is approximately ±3.1% with a 95% confidence level.
