SMRC: PDI-P Still Receives the Biggest Public Support

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) holds the top position in vote acquisition if an election were held today. This is evident in a survey conducted by Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC).

In a semi-open survey, 23.7% of respondents chose PDIP. SMRC Research Director, Deni Irvani, stated that this survey finding indicates that the map of public support for political parties remains unchanged. This means that PDIP still has the opportunity to become the winning party with the most votes.

"PDIP still has the opportunity to maintain the results of the 2014 and 2019 elections," said Deni, as quoted from Katadata.co.id, Thursday (9/6/2022).

Moreover, PDIP has experienced a trend of increased votes compared to the 2019 election. At that time, PDIP obtained 19.3% of the vote.

According to Deni, PDIP's high electability is influenced by the large number of cadres holding government positions and receiving good public assessments.

This is proven by the results of the SMRC survey, which shows a tendency for PDIP to be dominant among people who claim to be satisfied with the president's performance. Of the 73.8% who claimed to be satisfied with the president's performance, 28% of them were PDIP voters.

Below PDIP is Gerindra with 9.2% of the vote. The Golkar Party follows with 8.3% electability, followed by PKB (6.2%), Democrat (5.7%), PKS (2.5%), NasDem (2%), PAN (1.7%), PPP (1.4%), and Perindo (0.9%).

Meanwhile, 1.62% chose other parties. 35.6% said they didn't know/didn't answer.

This survey was conducted on 1,060 respondents throughout Indonesia aged 17 years and older or already married. The survey was conducted from May 10-17, 2022, through face-to-face interviews using a simple random sampling method. This survey has a margin of error of approximately 3.07% at a 95% confidence level.
