529 Damaged Ballot Papers Found in North Jakarta

The North Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU) reported 529 damaged ballots from the ballot sorting and folding process as of January 5, 2024, or 39 days before the 2024 General Election.

"A total of 529 damaged ballots were recorded in the North Jakarta KPU warehouse," said Ibnu Affan, a member of the North Jakarta KPU, in a statement reported by *Antara* on Saturday (6/1/2024).

He detailed that 359 damaged ballots were found in Tanjung Priok. Another 170 damaged ballots were found in the Semper logistics warehouse in Cilincing.

As of December 28, 2023, the North Jakarta KPU had received 1,304 ballot boxes, with 255 received at the Cilincing warehouse.

Meanwhile, 901,715 ballots were declared in good condition and folded, ready for use.

"The sorting results show 651,752 ballots in good condition at the North Jakarta KPU office and 249,963 ballots also in good condition in Semper," said Ibnu.

To date, the ballots received by the North Jakarta KPU are for legislative candidates for the Jakarta Provincial People's Representative Council (DPRD DKI Jakarta).

Ibnu stated that the Central KPU aims to complete the ballot folding and sorting process within the next 30 days. This includes ballots for the presidential and vice-presidential elections, and others.
