KedaiKOPI Survey: The Public Prefers a Down-to-Earth Presidential Candidate

A survey conducted by the Indonesian Public Opinion Discussion and Study Group (KedaiKOPI) reveals the ideal presidential figure desired by Indonesian citizens. A majority of respondents, 26.6%, desire a president who is close to the people.

The next most desired presidential trait is firmness, as expressed by 20.3% of respondents. Following this, 14.2% want an honest president, and 9.5% desire a smart/intelligent president.

The majority of respondents (54.5%) cited the presidential and vice-presidential candidates as the primary reason for their choice. Meanwhile, 43.4% of respondents only considered the presidential candidate as the main reason for their vote.

During the presidential and vice-presidential election, the majority of respondents (89.7%) considered the presidential and vice-presidential ticket as the primary factor in their choice. Only 10.3% of respondents cited the supporting political party as the main factor.

KedaiKOPI conducted the survey from November 16-24, 2021, with 1,200 respondents aged 17-65, spread across all provinces. The survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews, with a sampling error of approximately 2.83 percent.
