The Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) reports that 28.7% of respondents believe President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is not neutral or favors one presidential candidate (capres) and vice-presidential candidate (cawapres) pair in the 2024 Presidential Election.
Meanwhile, 60.2% of respondents assessed Jokowi as neutral or not favoring any particular capres and cawapres pair.
"But, a significant number, 28.7%, stated that he is not neutral," said LSI Executive Director Djayadi Hanan in a press conference on LSI's YouTube channel, Sunday (10/12/2023).
On the other hand, 11.1% of respondents said they didn't know/didn't answer the question regarding Jokowi's neutrality in the 2024 Presidential Election.
Djayadi also stated that 60.5% of respondents believe that state or government officials remain neutral regarding the 2024 Presidential Election.
Then, 28% of respondents assessed that state or government officials are not neutral, and 11.5% did not provide an answer.
According to Djayadi, this indicates that the majority of respondents believe that state or government officials are still neutral regarding the 2024 Presidential Election. "But, if the public is asked about the likelihood of fraud, the majority state that the possibility of significant fraud is very high," said Djayadi.
The LSI survey also shows that 50.2% of respondents believe there is a considerable/very high possibility of fraud in the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election.
The survey notes that the Ganjar-Mahfud pair is considered the most potentially prone to committing fraud, with a percentage of 20.6%. This is followed by the Prabowo-Gibran pair at 14.4% and the Anies-Cak Imin pair at 5.4%. However, 59.6% of respondents did not provide an answer.
"Perhaps (the survey results) are related to the positions of Prabowo and Ganjar, who are associated with power, while Anies is considered an opposition pair," said Djayadi.
This survey was conducted from December 3-5, 2023, involving 1,426 respondents with a distribution representing the demographic population across all regions of Indonesia. Respondents were Indonesian citizens aged 17 years and older or married and possessing a telephone, representing approximately 83% of the national population.
Selected respondents were interviewed by telephone by trained interviewers. The survey sample was drawn using the random digit dialing (RDD) method. RDD is a technique for selecting samples through the random generation of telephone numbers.
The survey sample was selected through a process of random telephone number generation, validation, and screening. The margin of error of the survey is estimated to be around 2.6% at a 95% confidence level.
