Based on data from the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the total non-performing loans (NPL) accumulated from Rural Banks (BPR) reached Rp16.46 trillion in June 2024.
The value of BPR NPLs increased by 0.58% from May 2024, which was Rp16.36 trillion.
By province, Central Java had the largest amount of problematic BPR loans, reaching Rp5.35 trillion in June 2024. This value increased from Rp5.27 trillion in May 2024.
Second is West Java with an NPL value of Rp2.23 trillion in June 2024. Similar to Central Java, West Java's NPL value increased from Rp2.20 trillion in May 2024.
Third is Bali with BPR NPLs of Rp1.94 trillion in June 2024. This value decreased from Rp2.04 trillion in May 2024.
Fourth is East Java with non-performing loans valued at Rp1.82 trillion in June 2024. This value increased from Rp1.80 trillion in May 2024.
Outside the top four, the value of BPR NPLs is below Rp1 trillion. Other provinces in the top 10 include Yogyakarta, Banten, DKI Jakarta, Riau Islands, West Papua, and Lampung.
Meanwhile, the lowest BPR NPLs were Gorontalo at Rp1 billion, West Sulawesi at Rp2 billion, and West Maluku and Aceh at Rp4 billion each.
The OJK stated that BPR businesses include collecting funds from the public in the form of savings such as time deposits, savings accounts, and/or other similar forms; providing credit; providing financing and fund placement based on sharia principles, in accordance with regulations set by Bank Indonesia; placing funds in the form of Bank Indonesia Certificates (SBI), time deposits, deposit certificates, and/or savings accounts in other banks.

* DKI Jakarta Rp574 billion
* Riau Islands Rp534 billion
* West Papua Rp326 billion
* Lampung Rp310 billion.
