Prevalence of Food Insufficiency in Kudus Decreased by 4.58% in the Last 5 Years

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Kudus Regency, Central Java, was 5.41% in 2024.

This figure decreased by 2.95% from the previous year's 8.36%, and by 4.58% in the last 5 years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.27% in 2024. This means that the PoU in Kudus Regency is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that less than 5.41% of the total population in Kudus Regency consumes food but lacks sufficient energy.

Compared to 34 other regencies/cities in Central Java Province, Kudus Regency ranks 5th in PoU. The region with the lowest PoU (top rank) is Salatiga City (4.04%) and the highest (last rank) is Wonosobo Regency (13.39%).
