Prevalence of Undernourishment in West Sumba Decreased by 0.43% in the Last Year

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in West Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, reached 11.57% in 2025.

This figure decreased by 0.43% from the previous year's 12.0%, while in the last 5 years it increased by 2.91%.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 7.89% in 2025. This means that the PoU in West Sumba Regency is higher than the national average.

The National Food Agency (Bapanas) defines PoU as a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food insecurity and nutritional status.

This means that less than 11.57% of the total population in West Sumba Regency consumes food but lacks sufficient energy intake.
