Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in East Lampung Decreases by 4.82% in the Last Year

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in East Lampung Regency, Lampung, was 10.59% in 2023.

This figure is down 4.82% from the previous year's 15.41%, and down 2.65% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in East Lampung Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the population in East Lampung Regency who consume food but whose energy needs are insufficient, does not reach 10.59% of the total population.

Compared to 14 other regencies/cities in Lampung Province, East Lampung Regency ranks 14th in PoU. The area with the lowest PoU (highest ranking) is Way Kanan Regency (7.11%), and the highest (lowest ranking) is Pringsewu Regency (10.82%).
