Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki Erupts Again This Morning (Wednesday, March 4, 2026)

Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Wednesday (March 4, 2026) at 08:39 WITA. In the past week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 3 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the observed ash column height reached 800 meters above the peak (2,384 meters above sea level).

The ash column was observed to be gray with moderate intensity, drifting north and northeast. The eruption was recorded on the seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 11 millimeters and a duration of 47 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Level II (Alert). Seismic observations on March 4, 2026, from 00:00 to 23:59 WITA showed 2 eruption/explosion earthquakes with amplitudes of 7.4-14.8 millimeters and durations of 50-183 seconds.

Additionally, there were 3 collapse earthquakes with amplitudes of 10.5-29.6 mm and durations of 42-82 seconds, as well as 6 emission earthquakes with amplitudes of 4.4-18.5 millimeters and durations of 33-47 seconds.

PVMBG advises residents around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to carry out any activities within a 4-kilometer radius of the Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki eruption center.
