1,611 Hotspots Detected in Indonesia in the Last 24 Hours (Wednesday, August 27, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring in the last 24 hours showed 1,611 hotspots detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots increased by 1,316 compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Wednesday (8/27/2025) at 11:30 AM WIB. Of the 1,611 detected hotspots, 114 points have a high hotspot confidence level, 1,447 points are at a medium scale, and 50 points are at a low scale.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. The low scale has a range of 0 - 29, the medium scale 30 - 79, and the high scale 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a particular area.

The most detected hotspots are in West Kalimantan, with 615 points. West Sumatra ranks second with the most hotspots, with 178 points. East Nusa Tenggara is in third place with 171 hotspots.

A total of 105 hotspots were detected in Bangka Belitung Islands, followed by North Sumatra with 86 hotspots, and West Nusa Tenggara and Riau each having 68 and 65 detected hotspots, respectively.

Hotspots are coordinate points of an area that have a higher surface temperature than their surroundings, and do not represent the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of clustered hotspots in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective in monitoring forest and land fires over a large area.
