Mount Ibu Erupts Again This Afternoon (Sunday, February 15, 2026)

Mount Ibu in North Maluku erupted again on Sunday (February 15, 2026) at 15:38 WIT. In the past week, Mount Ibu has erupted 38 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the ash column observed is approximately None meters above the peak (None meters above sea level).

The eruption visual was not observed. The eruption was recorded on the seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 28 millimeters and a duration of 45 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, Mount Ibu's activity level is at Level II (Alert). Seismic observations on February 15, 2026, from 00:00-23:59 WIT showed 113 eruption/explosion earthquakes with amplitudes of 12-28 millimeters and durations of 37-87 seconds.

Then, 3 emission earthquakes with amplitudes of 2-6 millimeters and durations of 39-47 seconds, as well as 22 harmonic earthquakes with amplitudes of 3-28 millimeters and durations of 47-170 seconds.

PVMBG advises residents around Mount Ibu and visitors/tourists not to carry out activities within a 2.0 kilometer radius and a sectoral expansion of 3.5 kilometers towards the crater opening in the northern part of Mount Ibu's active crater.

Throughout 2026, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 608 volcanic eruptions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java has the most eruptions (315 times) while Mount Ibu has erupted 253 times.
