Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in Penajam Paser Utara Decreased by 3.13% in the Last 5 Years

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan was 8.45% in 2025.

This figure increased by 0.25% from the previous year's 8.2%, while in the last 5 years it decreased by 3.13%.

Indonesia's average PoU in 2025 was 7.89%. This means that the PoU in Penajam Paser Utara Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to observe food and nutrition security conditions.

This means that residents of Penajam Paser Utara Regency who consume food but lack sufficient energy needs account for less than 8.45% of the total population.
