Prevalence of Insufficient Food Consumption in Purworejo Decreased by 6.09% in the Last 5 Years

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Purworejo Regency, Central Java reached 11.51% in 2024.

This figure decreased by 3.2% from the previous year's 14.71%, while in the last 5 years, it decreased by 6.09%.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.27% in 2024, meaning that the PoU in Purworejo Regency is higher than the national average.

The National Food Agency (Bapanas) defines PoU as a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy required for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This implies that 11.51% of the population in Purworejo Regency consumes food but whose energy requirements are insufficient.
