Prevalence of Food Consumption Inadequacy in Asahan Decreased by 1.01% in the Last Year

Referring to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Asahan Regency, North Sumatra, was 7.64% in 2024.

This figure decreased by 1.01% from the previous year's 8.65%, while it increased by 3.02% in the last 5 years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.27% in 2024. This means that the PoU in Asahan Regency is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy required for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.
