Warning! Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki Erupts Again This Afternoon (Monday, October 6, 2025)

Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Monday (October 6, 2025) at 2:26 PM WITA. In the last week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 2 times.

According to eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the ash column was observed to be around 300 meters above the peak (1,884 meters above sea level).

The ash column was observed to be grey with thick intensity towards the southwest. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 7.4 millimeters and a duration of 690 seconds.

According to MAGMA Indonesia's volcano activity report, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki's activity level is at Level III (Alert). Seismicity observations on October 6, 2025, from 06:00-12:00 WITA showed 14 non-harmonic tremors with amplitudes of 2.9-7.4 millimeters and earthquake durations of 67-128 seconds.

Furthermore, there was 1 deep volcanic earthquake with an amplitude of 3.7 millimeters s-p 1.8 seconds and a duration of 27 seconds, as well as 2 distant tectonic earthquakes with amplitudes of 4.4-7.4 millimeters s-p 12.4-17.4 seconds and durations of 66-90 seconds.

PVMBG urges the public around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to carry out any activities within a 6-kilometer radius from the center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki's eruption.

Throughout 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 6,552 volcanic eruptions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (2,565 times), while Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted 684 times.
