Prevalence of Food Consumption Inadequacy in Tegal Reaches 9.39% in 2024

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Tegal Regency, Central Java, was 9.39% in 2024.

This figure decreased by 2.86% from the previous year's 12.25%, while over the last 5 years, it decreased by 0.64%.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.27% in 2024. This means that the PoU in Tegal Regency was higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy required for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that less than 9.39% of the total population in Tegal Regency consume food but have insufficient energy requirements.
