Ministry of Environment and Forestry: Number of Hotspots in Indonesia Reached 720 in the Last 24 Hours (Friday, September 12, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF), monitoring in the last 24 hours showed 720 hotspots detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots increased by 404 points compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of satellite imagery from Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA, accessed on Friday (September 12, 2025) at 11:41 AM WIB. Of the 720 hotspots detected, 9 points had a high confidence level, 669 points had a medium scale, and 42 points had a low scale.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. Low scale has a range of 0 - 29, medium scale 30 - 79, and high scale 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a particular area.

The most detected hotspots were in East Nusa Tenggara with 169 points. West Kalimantan ranked second with 87 hotspots. Central Sulawesi was in third position with 61 hotspots.

As many as 61 hotspots were detected in Southeast Sulawesi, followed by North Kalimantan with 59 hotspots, while West Nusa Tenggara and East Kalimantan each had 56 and 49 hotspots detected.

A hotspot is a coordinate point in an area that has a higher surface temperature than its surroundings, and not the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of hotspots clustered in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective in monitoring forest and land fires over a large area.
