Bangkalan Regency's Prevalence of Undernourishment Rose to 12.18% in 2024

According to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Bangkalan Regency, East Java, was 12.18% in 2024.

This figure rose by 2.99% from the previous year's 9.19%, while in the last 5 years, it has increased by 5.14%.

Indonesia's average PoU was 8.27% in 2024. This means the PoU in Bangkalan Regency is higher than the national average.

The National Food Agency (Bapanas) defines PoU as a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy required for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to monitor food and nutritional insecurity conditions.

This means that the number of residents in Bangkalan Regency who consume food but whose energy needs are not met reached 12.18% of the total population.
