Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in South Minahasa Decreased by 2.27% in the Last Year

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in South Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi reached 6.11% in 2025.

This figure decreased by 2.27% from the previous year's 8.38%, while over the last 5 years it has decreased by 0.76%.

Indonesia's average PoU in 2025 was 7.89%. This means that the PoU in South Minahasa Regency is lower than the national average.

The National Food Agency (Bapanas) defines PoU as a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needs for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to observe food and nutrition security conditions.

This means that the percentage of South Minahasa Regency residents who consume food but do not meet their energy needs does not exceed 6.11% of the total population.

Compared to the other 14 regencies/cities in North Sulawesi Province, South Minahasa Regency ranks 8th in terms of PoU. The region with the lowest PoU (top rank) is Manado City (3.88%) and the highest (last rank) is Sangihe Islands Regency (10.0%).
