To curb the spread of COVID-19 in regions, 144 regencies/cities are currently aggressively conducting COVID-19 tests above the national average. Data as of Thursday, October 13, 2022, shows a national average of 0.42 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per 1,000 people per week, are South Jakarta (4.57 people), Central Jakarta (4.16 people), Balikpapan (4.07 people), East Jakarta (3.14 people), and Badung (2.9 people).
South Jakarta ranks first, with 4.57 tests per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 5.85 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. In efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, 4.16 people per 1,000 were tested per week. The positive rate is 6.86 percent, a decrease from the previous week.
Balikpapan recorded 4.07 tests per 1,000 people per week. East Jakarta recorded 3.14 tests per 1,000 people per week, and Badung recorded 2.9 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on national COVID-19 data, 159 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than before. Meanwhile, 146 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (4.07 people), Badung (2.9 people), and Mimika (2.53 people).
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing COVID-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
