The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) reports that Indonesia has received an additional Hajj quota. The number has increased from 221,000 in 2023 to 241,000 pilgrims in 2024.
"As we all know, during the Indonesian President's visit to Saudi Arabia, Indonesia received an additional quota of 20,000 pilgrims," said Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas during a meeting with Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) on Monday (6/10/2023).
The 2024 quota consists of 221,720 regular Hajj pilgrims and 19,280 special Hajj pilgrims. The additional quota of 20,000 in 2024 comprises 18,400 regular Hajj pilgrims and 1,600 special Hajj pilgrims.
The additional quota for regular Hajj pilgrims will be filled by prospective pilgrims who meet several criteria, including never having performed the Hajj pilgrimage before, being on the waiting list, and being at least 18 years old on May 13, 2024, or being married.
"Furthermore, the additional quota for regular Hajj will be distributed based on the proportion of the waiting list for Hajj pilgrims among provinces," said Yaqut.
