A Formula 1 (F1) and Motorsport Network survey reveals various activities global fans engage in to stay connected with F1 beyond watching live events in 2025.
The results show that to stay connected with F1, the majority of fans choose to follow its content on social media and read related articles.
In addition, fans also choose to watch highlight videos, learn about drivers through social media, and play racing games to stay connected with F1.
The following are the activities undertaken by F1 fans to stay connected outside of watching live events in 2025:
- Following on social media: 73%
- Reading articles or blogs: 73%
- Watching highlight videos or replays: 53%
- Learning about drivers via social media: 36%
- Playing racing games: 32%
- Listening to podcasts: 27%
- Engaging with merchandise: 26%
- Participating in online communities: 15%
- Creating or sharing racing-related content: 13%
- Participating in sim racing: 12%
- Attending racing-related events: 11%
“Global respondents rely on media content to stay connected with F1, primarily by accessing content and news to obtain information,” stated F1 and Motorsport Network in their report.
F1 President and CEO, Stefano Domenicali, said the survey shows that fans are increasingly following F1 because of the stories and various opportunities to engage with the sport.
“The sport is now embedded in culture, through streaming, storytelling, and social media, and this is helping more people connect,” he said.
The 2025 Global F1 Fan Survey report was conducted by F1 and Motorsport Network, involving over 100,000 fans in 186 countries. This survey is conducted every four years and was last conducted in October 2021.
