Survey Indicator: 68.7% of the Public Reject Jokowi as a 2024 Presidential Candidate

Discussions regarding extending the president's term to three periods have resurfaced. However, a survey by Indikator Politik Indonesia shows that a majority, or 68.7%, of Indonesian respondents disagree with Joko Widodo (Jokowi) running for president again in the 2024 election.

The details show that 40.8% of respondents somewhat disagree with the proposal. Meanwhile, 27.9% strongly disagree with Jokowi running for president in 2024.

Only 27.9% of respondents agree with the proposal. The remaining 3.8% stated they didn't know or didn't answer.

Among the elite, 93% of respondents disagreed with the proposal. Specifically, 18.2% somewhat disagreed and 74.8% strongly disagreed.

Meanwhile, only 5.4% of respondents from the elite class agreed with Jokowi running for president in 2024. The remaining 1.6% didn't know or didn't answer.

Indikator conducted this survey with 1,220 respondents across 34 provinces from September 2nd to 7th, 2021. The margin of error is 2.9% with a 95% confidence level.

The elite respondents, comprising national and regional opinion leaders, numbered 313 individuals across 16 regions. Interviews with the elite were conducted from September 1st to 30th, 2021.
