West Java had the highest number of valid votes among the three provinces on Java Island that held simultaneous regional elections (Pilkada) in 2018. Data from the General Election Commission recorded 96.7% valid ballots in the West Java Pilkada, approximately 21.95 million. Invalid votes constituted 3.3%, or 748,000. A total of 22.7 million voters in West Java exercised their right to vote in 2018, representing approximately 73.72% of the total 30.79 million registered voters.
Meanwhile, valid votes in the Central Java Pilkada reached 95.77% or 17.63 million, with invalid votes reaching 4.38% or 789,000. In the East Java Pilkada, valid votes reached 96.15% or 19.27 million, and invalid votes reached 3.87% or approximately 777,000.
As is known, in the West Java Pilkada, the pair Ridwan Kamil-UU Ruzhanul Ulum won with 32.88% of the vote, defeating three other contenders. The Central Java Pilkada was won by the pair Ganjar Pranowo-Taj Yasin with 58.78% of the vote, defeating their opponent Sudirman Said-Ida Fauziyah. In the East Java Pilkada, the pair Khofifah Indar Parawansa-Emil E. Dardak won with 53.55% of the vote, defeating their opponents Saifullah Yusuf-Puti Guntur Soekarno.
