According to a survey by Indikator Politik Indonesia, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) remains the political party with the highest electability at the beginning of 2024, with 20% of the vote.

However, PDIP's position is only slightly ahead of Gerindra, which received 18.1% of the vote.

Indikator Politik Indonesia Executive Director Burhanuddin Muhtadi assessed that the trend of PDIP's vote share is declining, while Gerindra's is increasing.

"This is an alarm for PDIP, because their desire to achieve a hat-trick of victories in the 2024 election is threatened by Gerindra, whose performance has improved in recent months," said Burhanuddin in a virtual press conference on Indikator Politik's YouTube channel on Thursday (18/1/2024).

Burhanuddin also estimated that only eight parties would pass the parliamentary threshold based on the Indikator Politik survey: PDIP (20%), Gerindra (18.1%), Golkar (11.2%), PKB (9.1%), Nasdem (6.9%), PKS (6.2%), Demokrat (4.6%), and PAN (4.2%).

The survey involved 1,200 respondents spread proportionally across Indonesia, with criteria of being 17 years of age or older, or married. The sample was selected using a multistage random sampling method.

Indikator Politik Indonesia also conducted an oversample in 13 provinces, namely Aceh, North Sumatra, South Sumatra, Lampung, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Banten, Bali, East Nusa Tenggara, North Sulawesi, and South Sulawesi, resulting in a total sample of 4,560 respondents.

Data collection was conducted from December 30, 2023, to January 6, 2024, using face-to-face interviews by trained interviewers. The survey's margin of error is approximately 2%, and the confidence level is 95%.
