Prabowo's Wealth Increased by Rp28 Billion Since Becoming Jokowi's Minister

Prabowo Subianto is the only prospective presidential candidate in the 2024 Indonesian Election who has yet to announce his running mate.

The Secretary General of the Gerindra Party, Ahmad Muzani, hinted that Prabowo's running mate would be a young person with experience in government.

"I just want to give a clue, a hint about Pak Prabowo's vice-presidential candidate with a poem: Indonesia is a rich country, with millions of people, we want Indonesia to prosper, Prabowo and a young person is the answer," said Ahmad Muzani, as reported by *Katadata.co.id*, Wednesday (18/10/2023).

The poem continues, "Buying bananas while cycling, stopping by Balapan Station on the way back. Pak Prabowo's vice-presidential candidate will be announced soon, he is an experienced figure in the government," Ahmad added.

However, he did not explicitly state whether the young and experienced government figure refers to the Mayor of Surakarta, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, or not.

Similarly, the meaning of "Balapan Station" in his poem is unclear, whether it is related to President Joko Widodo's son or not.

This 2024 election contest marks Prabowo's fifth attempt. Previously, he ran as a prospective presidential/vice-presidential candidate in the 2004, 2009, 2014, and 2019 elections, although he failed consecutively.

After failing to win the 2019 election, Prabowo was inaugurated as Minister of Defence in the Indonesia Maju Cabinet led by Jokowi-Ma'ruf.

According to data from the State Officials' Wealth Report (LHKPN), Prabowo Subianto's wealth has increased by approximately Rp28.43 billion in the last three years, since he became Minister of Defence.

At the beginning of his tenure, Prabowo reported assets of Rp2 trillion in 2019. In the following year, Prabowo's wealth increased by tens of billions of rupiah, as seen in the graph above.

The latest data shows that Prabowo has assets worth Rp2.03 trillion, reported on December 31, 2022.

The majority of Prabowo's wealth in 2022 consisted of securities worth Rp1.7 trillion.

The General Chairperson of the Gerindra Party also owns 10 plots of land and buildings, with a total value of Rp275.32 billion. These immovable assets are spread across Bogor and South Jakarta.

The former Commander of Kopassus is recorded as owning one motorcycle and seven cars, including a Suzuki motorcycle, Toyota Alphard, Honda CR-V, Land Rover, Toyota Land Cruiser, Mitsubishi Pajero, and Toyota Lexus. The total value of these transportation assets reaches Rp1.25 billion.

Prabowo also has other movable assets worth Rp16.41 billion, cash and cash equivalents of Rp2.52 billion, other assets worth Rp45 billion, and debts of Rp8 billion.
