A Jakpat survey reveals that more Indonesian Gen Z and Millennials plan to take trips outside their city in the next six months, based on the survey conducted from October 1-3, 2024.

Thirty-six percent of both generations plan such trips; this breaks down to 31% of Gen Z and 39% of Millennials.

Another popular choice was a same-day trip within the city, accounting for 26% of responses. This includes 25% of Gen Z and 26% of Millennials.

Staycations were chosen by 19% of respondents, with 18% of Gen Z and 20% of Millennials opting for this.

International travel was a less popular choice, selected by only 5% of respondents (4% Gen Z and 6% Millennials).

However, a significant portion of Gen Z and Millennials (32%) reported having no travel plans. This was higher among Gen Z (38%) compared to Millennials (28%).

The survey involved 1,148 respondents, comprising 49% male and 51% female. Gen Z (ages 15-27) constituted 42% of the sample, while Millennials (ages 28-43) made up 58%.

The survey was distributed across three major regions: Jakarta and surrounding areas (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi); Java (West Java excluding Bogor, Depok, Bekasi; Banten excluding Tangerang; East Java; Central Java; and Yogyakarta); and outside Java (all areas in Sumatra, Kalimantan, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua).

Data was collected online via the Jakpat application from October 1-3, 2024, with a margin of error below 5%.
