Indicator: 85% of the Public is Optimistic about Prabowo's Leadership

According to a survey by Indikator Politik Indonesia, a majority or 85.3% of respondents believe that President Prabowo Subianto is capable of leading Indonesia to a better future.

This proportion consists of 65.6% of respondents who are fairly confident and 19.7% who are very confident.

However, Indikator researcher Burhanuddin Muhtadi views this high level of public confidence as a "double-edged sword".

"On the one hand, this figure shows Prabowo's considerable legitimacy and political capital. But on the other hand, it could also indicate that if Prabowo's government fails to meet public expectations, the level of disappointment will be much greater," said Burhanuddin in an online presentation of his survey on Sunday (October 27, 2024).

Furthermore, the high public expectations are also driven by the presence of Joko Widodo's supporting coalition.

"Because Mr. Prabowo was elected partly due to Mr. Jokowi's coat-tail effect. Therefore, when Prabowo is elected president, especially when accompanied by Mr. Jokowi's child, Jokowi's supporters are also confident in Prabowo," said Burhanuddin.

Meanwhile, only 12.2% of respondents were not confident in President Prabowo's leadership. The details are 11.6% feeling less confident and 0.6% not confident at all.

This survey involved 1,200 respondents spread across Indonesia, with criteria of being over 17 years old or married. Respondents were selected using multistage random sampling.

Data collection was conducted from October 10-15, 2024, through face-to-face interviews with questionnaires. The survey's margin of error is approximately 2.9% at a 95% confidence level.
