Urgent Problems in East Java According to Indikator Survey

According to a survey by Indikator Politik Indonesia, there are various pressing issues experienced by residents of East Java.

The majority, or 28.3% of respondents, stated that the main problem is the high cost of basic necessities. Then, 18.5% found it difficult to find work.

"So these two issues are the most prominent in East Java," said Indikator's lead researcher, Rizka Halida, in an online presentation of her survey on Sunday (September 29, 2024).

Other pressing issues experienced by East Java residents include waste management (9.5%), poverty (7.4%), flooding (4.4%), clean water availability (3.6%), and air pollution (3.5%).

There are also issues of security and public order, untrustworthy leaders, ineffective law enforcement, and others, as shown in the graph.

The Indikator survey also found that 47.1% of respondents assessed the economic conditions in East Java as better now than last year.

Meanwhile, 35.5% of respondents stated there was no change, and 16.8% felt that the economic conditions in their region are currently worse than last year.

This survey involved 1,000 respondents in East Java, with criteria of being 17 years or older or already married. Respondents were selected using a multistage random sampling method.

Data collection was conducted from September 9-14, 2024, through face-to-face interviews. The survey's margin of error is approximately 3.2% at a 95% confidence level.
