Polling Institute Survey: Erick Thohir Seen as the Most Suitable Vice Presidential Candidate to Accompany Prabowo

State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir emerged as the top candidate for vice president, deemed the most suitable to accompany Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 General Election, based on electability.

This was recorded in the results of a Polling Institute survey titled "Map of Presidential and Vice-Presidential Candidates Competition and Current Issues," August 2023 edition.

In a semi-open simulation, this survey shows that Erick Thohir is considered the most suitable prospective vice-presidential candidate to accompany Prabowo, with electability reaching 28.8%.

"Among the five names and other possible names, Erick Thohir was most often chosen as the vice-presidential candidate to accompany Prabowo; the most frequent reason is that his work is considered good," wrote the Polling Institute research team in their report on Sunday (9/9/2023).

The next position was filled by Gibran Rakabuming, garnering 17.3% of the vote from respondents. Followed by Muhaimin Iskandar with 8.8%.

Meanwhile, East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawanda ranked fourth with 8.5%. Lastly, Airlangga Hartarto received only 4.2%.

On the other hand, many respondents have yet to decide which figure is considered suitable to accompany Prabowo. This is evident in the 26.5% of respondents who did not answer or did not know.

This survey involved 1,201 respondents aged 17 years and older or already married. The sample was taken using a random telephone number generation technique or Random Digit Dialing (RDD).

Data collection was conducted from August 21-25, 2023, using telephone interview methods. This survey has a margin of error of approximately 2.9% and a 95% confidence level.
