A PolMark Research Center (PRC) survey conducted from September 28 to October 4, 2016, revealed that Basuki Tjahja Purnama, or Ahok, was the best-known gubernatorial candidate in Jakarta. However, of the 97.1 percent who knew Ahok, only 58.3 percent claimed to like the incumbent candidate. Meanwhile, another candidate, Anies Baswedan, although known by only 82.8 percent of Jakarta residents, was more popular among the capital's citizens. A total of 63.1 percent of residents expressed favor towards the former Minister of Education and Culture.
Regarding the deputy gubernatorial candidates, Djarot Hidayat was known by 79.6 percent and liked by 46.9 percent of residents. Agus Yudhoyono's running mate, Sylviana, was known by only 56.1 percent and liked by 32.7 percent of Jakarta's population.
These survey results are based on research conducted by PolMark on 1,100 respondents, namely Jakarta residents with voting rights. Respondents were selected using multistage random sampling and proportionally distributed across all cities in DKI Jakarta. The margin of error for this survey is +/- 2.9 percent with a 95 percent confidence level.
