CSIS Survey: 51.8% of Experts Dissatisfied with the Performance of Anies Baswedan and Riza Patria

Experts expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of the Jakarta Provincial Government under the leadership of Governor Anies Baswedan and Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria.

This finding was presented by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Indonesia in a report titled "Four Political and Legal Implications After the Relocation of the State Capital," released on Monday (June 6, 2022).

The CSIS survey was conducted from March 28 to April 12, 2022, involving 170 experts from various professions, including researchers/NGOs, lecturers/academics, professionals, journalists, entrepreneurs, members of the DPR/DPRD, members of political parties, and students. Expert opinions were divided in assessing the performance of the Jakarta Provincial Government.

51.8% of experts were dissatisfied with the performance of the Jakarta Provincial Government under the leadership of Anies-Riza. Meanwhile, 47.7% expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Anies-Riza pair.

The survey also evaluated eight strategic programs of the Jakarta Provincial Government. Four programs were rated positively by experts (above 50%), namely wages (69.4%), transportation (64.7%), basic necessities prices (54.1%), and social harmony (53.5%).

Meanwhile, the four programs that received satisfaction ratings below 50% were bureaucracy (47.1%), employment (37.6%), environment (32.4%), and decent housing (24.7%).

The approximately 40% increase in the provincial minimum wage (UMP) between 2017 and 2022 lowered respondents' perception of Jakarta's ability to create jobs.
