The electability of presidential candidates Prabowo Subianto and Ganjar Pranowo is closely contested in the August 2023 survey by the Indonesian Survey Circle (LSI) Denny JA research institute.
In the three-name simulation survey, Prabowo obtained 36.2% electability, slightly ahead of Ganjar with 35.8%.
Meanwhile, Anies Baswedan lagged significantly behind with 19.7% electability. 8.3% of respondents stated they did not know or did not answer.
"So, even though it's a narrow margin, Mr. Prabowo is still ahead of Mr. Ganjar. And even more so compared to Mr. Anies Baswedan," said LSI Denny JA researcher Ade Mulyana at a virtual press conference on Wednesday (30/8/2023).
He explained that although Prabowo is in the top position, for the first time his electability has decreased by 2% from the July 2023 survey results.
"But if we look at the tracking from January to August, there's a 10.8% increase in support for Mr. Prabowo," said Ade.
Meanwhile, the electability trend for Ganjar, which previously experienced a decline in the May 2023 survey, is slowly increasing.
"Over the past two months, June and August, support for Ganjar has rebounded. But it hasn't surpassed Ganjar's score in the January 2023 survey, which was 37.8%," he explained.
Anies' electability in the LSI Denny JA survey consistently remained below Prabowo and Ganjar. "For Mr. Anies, it's stagnant, there's even a 2.4% decrease compared to our January 2023 survey results," Ade said.
This LSI Denny JA survey involved 1,200 respondents from various regions of Indonesia. The sample was selected using a multistage random sampling method.
Data collection was conducted from August 1-8, 2023, using face-to-face interviews with questionnaires. The survey has a margin of error of approximately 2.9% and a 95% confidence level.
